How to Disable AI Overview on Google Chrome and Remove it

Welcome back to Error Genie! In this article, we will guide you on how to turn off the AI overview feature on Google Chrome. This feature is currently available to everyone in the United States, but it hasn't been implemented in all countries yet. If you're outside the US, you might not have access to it. However, don't worry! We have a trick to disable it using a VPN.

Step 1: Get a VPN

First, you'll need a VPN to change your virtual location. We recommend using TunnelBear for this tutorial, but you can use any VPN you prefer. Download and install TunnelBear from the Google Play Store or App Store.

Step 2: Connect to a Country without AI Overview

Open TunnelBear and log into your account. From the list of countries, choose a country where the AI overview feature is not yet available. For this tutorial, we'll be using Australia. Click on Australia and wait for the VPN to establish a connection.

Step 3: Open Google Chrome

Once your VPN is connected, open Google Chrome. This will make Google think you're browsing from Australia.

Step 4: Search for a Query

Now, perform a search query that would normally trigger the AI overview feature. Type your query into the search bar and hit enter. You should notice that the AI overview is disabled from your search results.

Step 5: Confirm it's Disabled

Double-check to make sure the AI overview doesn't appear. Browse through your search results to ensure that the feature is turned off.

Troubleshooting

If you still see the AI overview feature, try disconnecting and reconnecting your VPN or choose a different country. Also, make sure your VPN connection is stable.

That's it! You've successfully turned off the AI overview feature on Google Chrome using a VPN. This method is a great workaround until Google rolls out more customization options or until the feature is available globally.
