Google Gemini Ultra 1.0: A Comprehensive Review - The Ultimate Upgrade?
Google Gemini Ultra is supposed to be the best AI model we have right now and it's available inside of the new Google Gemini, the old Google Bard. So, I've upgraded my account here to Gemini Advanced, which is powered by Ultra. Now, this is a subscription platform for $20 a month. You need to get a Google one subscription to get this option, which I covered in the previous video. But in this video, I want to run this through 10 different prompts, different types of prompts, to see if Gemini Advance is as good as they say. So, I'm going to compare it to the regular Gemini, which is powered by an AI model called Gemini Pro. So, it's going to be Gemini Pro versus Gemini Ultra, their most advanced model from Google.
Testing Complex Reasoning
The very first thing I want to test out in our first prompts is going to be complex reasoning because they claim that Gemini Advanced or Gemini Ultra is just much better at reasoning. So, here in Gemini Advanced, it gave us an answer that Emily finishes the race last. And let's look at Gemini. Gemini can't give us an answer of who finished in last place.
Multimodal Side and Image Recognition
Let's move on to the multimodal side of it and see how good it is at recognizing what's inside of an image. So, let's upload an image and describe it. Here in the regular Gemini, it says the image was removed. I can't help with an image of people. Let me do one without people. And for the most part, it got things wrong. Let's try Ultra. This time it did get the full text, but it got some parts wrong. So, both of them even though this Advanced version did a better job, he still didn't really do a perfect job. Recently, Google Gemini got access to creating images. Let's create an image of three golden retrievers playing with a tennis ball. As you can see between the two, they do okay, but this is brand new, and Google has some catching up to do with image generation.
Text Summarizing and Processing
Let's move on to text summarizing and processing. So, summarize this article in three sentences, focusing on the key events. This is the free version. Now let's go to Advanced. Very similar kind of answer. Now let's see if it can expand on the summarized text. This is a more common way of using these large language models. And it did a good job in both versions.
Generating Email Copy
Email copy is one of the main use cases for generative AI and using chat GPT and other models like it. So, let's craft an intro email about a product called Vision Pro. And let's see what the AI generates. For this particular test, the Advanced version of Gemini really outperformed the free version and gave a much better email copy.
Evaluating Ethics and Logical Reasoning
Now, let's check large language models for ethical evaluations. Give me three reasons why an AI system that decides who gets a job interview may be harmful. Both versions gave good reasons but the Advanced version gave a shorter, more concise answer.
Coding Analysis
Let's analyze a piece of code. This is a game of Snake. Both versions did a good job of analyzing the code, but in some cases, Gemini said the code was too long and couldn't analyze it.
Email Management and Real-time Responses
Google Gemini also has features for email management. You can integrate it with Google Workspace or pull in YouTube videos. It can also give you summaries of your emails. In this test, the Advanced version provided better summarization and more relevant information.
Web Searching and Real-time Knowledge
Now, let's test if it has up-to-date knowledge by performing a web search. It provided current information and also gave links to the sources of its answer. The Advanced version had the advantage of speed, providing quick and accurate answers.
Conclusion
In conclusion, if you're using AI models for writing copy, Gemini Ultra is definitely worth the upgrade. It outperforms the free version in terms of email copy, blog post content, and other writing tasks. However, other features such as image recognition and coding analysis still have room for improvement. Gemini Ultra shows promise but still has some catching up to do with other tools available. Once it rolls out to Gmail and Google Drive, it will become even more valuable. Overall, Gemini Ultra is a powerful AI model with the potential to greatly enhance productivity and creativity.
